Discover Carriacou

Grenada’s sister island Carriacou meaning ‘Isle of Reefs’ is the largest inhabited island in the Grenadines and home to some of the most beautiful beaches, views and coral reefs. Carriacou is simply the gateway to endless adventures, and it’s ideal if you’re looking for an escape.

Hiking and Nature Walks

Getting to Anse La Roche beach involves an excursion that’s more than worth the trek if you’re interested in total tranquility. We go as far as to say that the best view on the island is from High North overlooking Hillsborough. Also, to the north of the island there’s a very scenic view of the neighbouring Grenadine Islands.

If you’re looking for a quick dip, Hillsborough Beach (stretches the length of town) and Paradise beach located near the airport are perfect! In addition to the idyllic white sand beaches on the mainland, you can take a short boat ride to one of the many uninhabited neighbouring islets (Sandy Island, Mopian Island, White Island and Saline Island) that possess calm, clear turquoise waters.

Carriacou is a magnet for divers. You can choose from 3 diving facilities with dive sites that range from shipwrecks to coral gardens.

Day trips to the surrounding islands, especially to the renowned Tobago Cays Marine Park is a must do. But if you’re looking for an authentic sailing experience, Savvy’s is the only choice for you.

There’s a rich presence of customs and traditions, which is manifested through elaborate cultural experiences of which music and dance play a significant part.

The most highly anticipated events for the year are:

  • Carriacou Maroon and String Band Music Festival
  • Carriacou Regatta Festival
  • Carriacou Carnival ‘Kayak Mas’ - a major element is Shakespeare Mas
  • Boat Launching
  • Fisherman Birthday celebrations
